Monument

The Battle of New Orleans was fought on January 8, 1815 between the British Army under Major General Sir Edward Pakenham and the United States Army under Brevet Major General Andrew Jackson, roughly 5 miles (8 km) southeast of the French Quarter of New Orleans, in the current suburb of Chalmette, Louisiana.

Chalmette National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located within Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve in Chalmette, Louisiana. The cemetery is a 17.5-acre (7.1 ha) graveyard adjacent to the site that was once the battleground of the Battle of New Orleans, which took place at the end of the War of 1812.

Fazendeville was a small community in Saint Bernard Parish, Louisiana, United States which was dismantled in the 1960s.In 1854, the land was listed as part of the succession of Jean Pierre Fazende, a "free man of color", and was inherited by his son of the same name. At the end of the American Civil War, the younger Fazende divided what had been agricultural land into lots and sold them to recently freed slaves.

Freedmen's Cemetery was a cemetery in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, open from 1867 to 1876. Today, there is a plaque to note where the cemetery once stood. It is considered one of the Historic Cemeteries of New OrleansThe adjacent Chalmette National Cemetery, then Monument Cemetery, was established in 1864 to bury Union soldiers.
