The Bay of Santander is both a comarca of Cantabria and the largest estuary on the North coast of Spain, with an extension of 22.42 km2 (9 km long and 5 km wide). Due to the influence of Santander and its metropolitan area, nearly half of the population of the autonomous community of Cantabria is gathered around it, which makes the anthropic pressure on this area of water quite notable.

Menéndez Pelayo International University ("UIMP" in Spanish) is a public university with administrative headquarters in Madrid and campuses in Santander, Valencia, Barcelona, Cartagena, Cuenca, Granada, La Línea de la Concepción, Seville and Tenerife. The University also conducts classes at the Luis Seoane Foundation in A Coruña and the Huesca campus of the University of Zaragoza.

Campos de Sport de El Sardinero ("El Sardinero Sport Fields"), or simply El Sardinero, is a multi-purpose stadium in Santander, Spain. It is currently used mostly for football matches, serving as the home ground of the former La Liga side Racing de Santander since its inauguration in 1988, after replacing the old Estadio El Sardinero.

The Gran Casino del Sardinero is a leading gambling casino in the city of Santander in the autonomous community of Cantabria (Spain). It is in the Plaza de Italia in El Sardinero.

Palacio de Deportes de Santander is an arena in Santander, Cantabria, Spain. It is primarily used for basketball and handball. The arena has 6,000 seats.

The University of Cantabria School of Civil Engineering is an engineering school of the University of Cantabria.The school ranks 5th in Spain in the civil engineering schools' ranking by El Mundo just behind the schools of the Technical University of Madrid, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the University of Castile-La Mancha.

Sardinero is a popular beach located in the Spanish city of Santander, Cantabria. Sardinero is divided by the gardens of Piquio about one-quarter the way along its length, stretching from the Magdalena Peninsula to Mataleñas; two further adjacent beaches are also sometimes included. Together about 4,300 feet (1,300 meters) long and 260 feet (80 meters) deep, the beach features fine golden sand and moderate waves; it is bordered by a wide promenade running its entire length.

University of Cantabria (UC) (Spanish: Universidad de Cantabria), is a public university located in Santander, Torrelavega and Comillas in Cantabria, Spain. It was founded in 1972 and is organized in 15 schools and colleges.It was selected as Campus of International Excellence by the Government of Spain in 2009.
