Dokuz Eylül University (Turkish: Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi) (DEÜ) is a university in Turkey. It is located in İzmir, Turkey. It was founded in 1982 and is organized in 15 faculties. DEU is the first university which applied the problem-based learning method in Turkey, beginning in the School of Medicine in 1997.

Asansör (Turkish for "elevator", derived from the French word ascenseur) is a historical building in İzmir's Karataş quarter, within the boundaries of the metropolitan district of Konak. It was built in 1907 as a work of public service by a wealthy Jewish banker and trader of that period, Nesim Levi Bayraklıoğlu, in order to ease passage from the narrow coastline of Karataş to the hillside, the elevator within the building serving to carry people and goods through the steep cliff between the two parts of the quarter.

The Bet Israel Synagogue is the largest synagogue in the city of İzmir, Turkey. It was built in 1907 and is in the Karataş quarter of the city.On April 4, 2019, an attacker threw a Molotov cocktail at the synagogue. Falling on the sidewalk, the bomb did not destroy the synagogue. A prominent member of the ruling Justice and Development Party immediately condemned the attack.

Gündoğdu Square (Turkish: Gündoğdu Meydanı) is a city square in İzmir, Turkey. Located within between the neighborhoods of Alsancak and Konak, it marks the center-point of the Kordon esplanade. Göztepe Pier (Turkish: Göztepe iskelesi) is a passenger ferry terminal in west Konak, İzmir, on the Gulf of İzmir. Located along the Mustafa Kemal Coastal Boulevard, it is among the smallest ferry piers in İzmir, along with Bayraklı Pier. İzdeniz operates frequent commuter ferry service to Karşıyaka, Alsancak, Konak and Üçkuyular.
