Sesimbra

Sesimbra (Portuguese pronunciation: [sɨˈzĩbɾɐ] (listen)) is a municipality of Portugal, in the Setúbal District, lying at the foothills of the Serra da Arrábida, a mountain range between Setúbal and Sesimbra. Due to its particular position at the Setúbal Bay, near the mouth of the Sado River and its natural harbour, it’s an important fishing town.

The Fortress of Saint James of Sesimbra (also known as the Fortress of Santiago) is a fortress located in the parish of Santiago in the coastal town and municipality of Sesimbra, in the Setúbal District of Portugal. It was built between 1642 and 1648 on the site of an earlier 16th-century Manueline fort.
