Bucharest (UK: BOO-kə-REST, US: -⁠rest; Romanian: București [bukuˈreʃtʲ] (listen)) is the capital and largest city of Romania, as well as its cultural, industrial, and financial centre. It is located in the southeast of the country, at 44°25′57″N 26°06′14″E, on the banks of the Dâmbovița River, less than 60 km (37.3 mi) north of the Danube River and the Bulgarian border.

Bulevardul Magheru is a major street in central Bucharest. Built in the early 20th century, it is named after Gheorghe Magheru. Together with Bulevardul Bălcescu, Magheru connects Piața Romană and Piața Universității squares and was in 1930s-1940s Bucharest most modern part. This is one of Europe and world's most representative modernist boulevards, where the architecture in vogue in the 1930s is prevalent.

Carlton Bloc (Romanian: Blocul Carlton) was a residential bloc located in Bucharest, Romania. at 9 Nicolae Bălcescu Boulevard, completed in 1936. Designed by architects George Matei Cantacuzino and Vasile Arion, it had a large cinema on the ground level, also called the Carlton. Having 14 floors, and a height of 47 metres (154 ft) it was the tallest buildings in the capital until it completely collapsed in the November 10, 1940 earthquake, killing 140 and injuring 86 people.

The Patria Cinema, located at 12-14 Bulevardul Magheru, is among the best-known movie theatres in Bucharest, Romania. It is housed in Horia Creangă's modernist 10-story ARO building (named after the insurance firm that had it built), designed in 1929 and completed in 1931.

University Square (Romanian: Piaţa Universităţii) is located in downtown Bucharest, near the University of Bucharest. It is served by Universitate metro station.Four statues can be found in the University Square, in front of the University; they depict Ion Heliade Rădulescu (1879), Michael the Brave (1874), Gheorghe Lazăr (1889) and Spiru Haret (1932).

Sector 1 is an administrative unit of Bucharest located in the northern part of the city. It contains also the northwestern districts of Băneasa and Pipera. Sector 1 is thought to be the wealthiest sector in Bucharest.

Sector 3 (Sectorul 3 in Romanian) is an administrative unit of Bucharest. It is the most populous, most densely populated and also the third-largest division of the city. Actually, at its total population of over 460 thousand, it is the second-most populated administrative area of Romania, only after the capital city.
