Shirlington is an unincorporated urban area, officially called an "urban village", in the southern part of Arlington County, Virginia, United States, adjacent to the Fairlington area. The word "Shirlington" is a combination of "Shirley" (from the Shirley Highway or Interstate 395) and "Arlington".Shirlington is billed as "Arlington’s Arts and Entertainment District" and is largely mixed-use development based on New Urbanist principles.

Inner Ear Studios is a recording studio founded in Arlington, Virginia by musician and recording engineer Don Zientara. The studio was started by Zientara in his own home before moving into its own building. At first, Zientara recorded harp music and Celtic folk tunes, but in the 1980s, Zientara began to record punk music, with Teen Idles being one of the first bands he recorded.

The Four Mile Run Trail is a 7-mile, paved shared use path in Arlington County, Virginia that runs along Four Mile Run from Falls Church to the Mount Vernon Trail near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, where Four Mile Run empties into the Potomac River. The trail runs roughly parallel to parts of the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Trail as it follows Four Mile Run, sometimes on the other side of the stream.

Barcroft Community House is a historic community center located at Arlington, Virginia. It was built in 1908, and is a one-story, American Craftsman style frame building. It initially served as the church building for the Methodist Episcopal Church. It housed the Barcroft School until a new school building opened in 1925.

The Village at Shirlington opened as Shirlington Shopping Center in 1944, and was the first large shopping center to open in the Washington, D.C. suburbs and one of the earliest in the United States. It is located along Campbell Avenue (formerly South 28th Street) at the intersection of Shirley Highway and Quaker Lane / Shirlington Road in Arlington, Virginia.
