Dunmow - flitch green

Great Dunmow is an historic market town and civil parish in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. It is situated on the north of the A120 road, approximately midway between Bishop's Stortford and Braintree, 6 miles east of London Stansted Airport.Originally the site of a Roman settlement on Stane Street, the town thrived during the Middle Ages.

The station closed to regular passenger traffic in 1952. The station building still exists as a private house.

Little Dunmow Priory in Little Dunmow was an Augustinian priory in Essex, England. According to local legend, it is the resting place of Maid Marian. The lady chapel of the Priory is still in use today as the village parish church. The Augustinian priory dates back to 1106.The plan of the priory was determined by excavation in 1913 - 1914.

Little Dunmow is a village situated in rural Essex, England, in the vale of the River Chelmer about 3 miles (4.8 km) east-southeast of the town of Great Dunmow. It can be reached from the Dunmow South exit of the A120 by following the road towards Braintree (B1256) for 3.2 km before turning right for the village.
