Chuncheon (Korean: 춘천; Hanja: 春川市; Korean pronunciation: [tɕʰun.tɕʰʌn]; formerly romanized as Chunchŏn; literally spring river) is the capital of Gangwon Province in South Korea. The city lies in the north of the county, located in a basin formed by the Soyang River and Han River. There are some large lakes around the city, most notably Lake Soyang and Lake Uiam (or Dam Uiam).

The Battle of Chuncheon was one of a series of coordinated attacks beginning on 25 June 1950 that marked the beginning of the Korean War.

Chuncheon Stadium (Korean: 춘천종합운동장) was a multi-purpose stadium located in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, South Korea. It was built in 1980 to hold Korean Junior Sports Festival. It also held Korean National Sports Festival twice, in 1985 and 1996. The stadium had a capacity of 35,000 people. In December 2008, because of the deterioration of its equipment, the stadium was demolished, and a new stadium, Chuncheon Stadium, was built in another place.

Chuncheon Station is a railway station on, and the eastern terminus of, the Gyeongchun Line. It was opened in 1939 as a regular train station and became a subway stop in 2010.

The Diocese of Chunchon (also romanized Chuncheon and Ch’unch’on, Latin: Dioecesis Chuncheonensis) is a particular church of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church in South Korea. A suffragan in the ecclesiastical province of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Seoul, it has ecclesiastic authority over the administrative province of Gangwon-do.

Operation Ripper, also known as the Fourth Battle of Seoul, was a United Nations (UN) military operation conceived by the US Eighth Army, General Matthew Ridgway, during the Korean War. The operation was intended to destroy as much as possible of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army (PVA) and Korean People's Army (KPA) forces around Seoul and the towns of Hongch'on, 50 miles (80 km) east of Seoul, and Chuncheon, 15 miles (24 km) further north.
