Godstone

Tourist Attraction
Godstone is a village and civil parish in the county of Surrey, England. It is centred 6.3 miles (10.1 km) east of Reigate at the junction of the A22 and A25 roads, and near the M25 motorway on the escarpment of the North Downs to the north. In its far south, it has a railway station, with its own small community South Godstone separated by agricultural land.

It is part of Godstone Ponds Site of Special Scientific InterestThis is an educational reserve run by the Trust. It has four ponds and the main one is believed to have been made in 1611 to hold back water for a mill.

The 1929 Luft Hansa Junkers G.24 crash occurred on 6 November 1929 when a Junkers G 24 of Luft Hansa crashed at Godstone, Surrey, United Kingdom while on an international scheduled flight from Croydon, Surrey, United Kingdom to Amsterdam-Schiphol Municipal Airport, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Of the eight people on board, Glen Kidston was the only survivor.

Bay Pond is an educational nature reserve closed to the public which is managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust.The three ponds on this site have been created by damming, with the oldest, Leigh Mill Pond, estimated to be around 1,500 years old.
