It was heavily developed for heavy industry and housing during the 19th century, as Tipton was one of the most significant towns during the Industrial Revolution. Tipton Green is one of three electoral wards covering Tipton for Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.

Victoria Park, Tipton

Victoria Park is a public park situated in Tipton, West Midlands (formerly Staffordshire), England. It was opened on 29 July 1901 and named in honour of Queen Victoria, who had died in January of that year. 860 people in the Tipton area had signed a petition in 1893 for the development of a town park, and after sufficient donations and funding had been made available, development of the park was underway during 1899, although it was not fully complete until just after the official opening.[1]It was situated on Randalls Lane, Tipton Green, which was promptly renamed Victoria Road.

The Battle of Tipton Green (12 June 1644) was an engagement in the First English Civil War in the area of Tipton Green, about one mile from Dudley Castle. The battle occurred when Royalist troops arrived from Worcester to break the Earl of Denbigh's siege of the castle. The battle resulted in a Royalist victory.

Tipton railway station is located in the town of Tipton in the borough of Sandwell, West Midlands, England and was known as Tipton Owen Street until 1968. It is situated on the West Coast Main Line. The station is operated by West Midlands Railway, which also provides all services.At the southern end of the station, there was a level crossing, though this was closed in January 2010 on the opening of a relief road which undercuts the railway.

It was situated on the Oxford-Worcester-Wolverhampton Line.

Great Bridge South railway station

Not to be confused with the nearby Great Bridge North railway station.Great Bridge South railway station was the only station on a link line between the South Staffordshire Line and the Birmingham Snow Hill-Wolverhampton Low Level Line. It was opened in 1866. As with a lot of passenger stations, it closed during the years of the First World War but reopened in 1920 and remained operational until British Rail closed the station through the Beeching Axe in 1964.
