Osaka (Japanese: 大阪市, Hepburn: Ōsaka-shi, pronounced [oːsakaɕi]; commonly just 大阪, Ōsaka [oːsaka] (listen)) is a designated city in the Kansai region of Japan. It is the capital city of Osaka Prefecture and the largest component of the Keihanshin Metropolitan Area, the second largest metropolitan area in Japan and among the largest in the world with more than 20 million inhabitants.

The National Museum of Art (国立国際美術館, Kokuritsu Kokusai Bijutsukan) is a subterranean Japanese art museum located on the island of Nakanoshima, located between the Dōjima River and the Tosabori River, about 5 minutes west of Higobashi Station in central Osaka.The official Japanese title of the museum translates as the "National Museum of International Art".

Nakanoshima (中之島) is a 3 km long and 50 hectares narrow sandbank in Kita-ku, Osaka city, Japan, that divides the Kyū-Yodo into the Tosabori and Dōjima rivers. Many governmental and commercial offices (including the city hall of Osaka), museums and other cultural facilities are located on Nakanoshima.

It is run by the Asahi Building Co., Ltd., a Japanese real estate company controlling properties of the Asahi Shimbun Company, and is housed in the Festival Tower, a skyscraper. The opening ceremony of the new hall was held on April 3, 2013.

The Osaka Science Museum (大阪市立科学館, Ōsaka Shiritsu Kagakukan) is a science museum in Naka-no-shima, Kita-ku, Osaka, Japan. The museum is located between the Dōjima River and the Tosabori River, above Osaka's subterranean National Museum of Art. Opened in 1989, the museum was constructed to mark the 100th anniversary of Osaka City.

The Dōjima Rice Exchange (堂島米市場, Dōjima kome ichiba, 堂島米会所, Dōjima kome kaisho), located in Osaka, was the center of Japan's system of rice brokers, which developed independently and privately in the Edo period and would be seen as the forerunners to a modern banking system. It was first established in 1697, officially sanctioned, sponsored and organized by the shogunate in 1773, reorganized in 1868, and dissolved entirely in 1939, being absorbed into the Government Rice Agency (日本米穀株式会社).

Kitashinchi Station (北新地駅, Kitashinchi-eki) is a railway station on the West Japan Railway (JR West) JR Tōzai Line in Kita-ku, Osaka, Japan. The station is located in the Kitashinchi dining and entertainment district of Osaka, and at 23.95 metres (78.6 ft) below sea level, it is the deepest station in the JR West system.

Hajime, officially Hajime Restaurant Gastronomique is a restaurant in Osaka, Japan named after its owner and chef Hajime Yoneda (born 1972). The restaurant was opened in May 2008 and only a year and a half later received a three-star rating in the Michelin Guide, the only restaurant in Osaka to receive that distinction.

Watanabebashi Station (渡辺橋駅) is a railway station on the Keihan Electric Railway Nakanoshima Line in Kita-ku, Osaka, Japan, and opened on October 19, 2008 (the day of the opening of the Nakanoshima Line).
