Early in its development, South Korea lacked home-grown research and policy expertise needed to support the country's economic development. To address this, the Korea Development Institute (KDI) was established in 1971 to conduct policy research and analysis on fundamental economic and social issues using scientific methods to support the nation's development efforts.

Korea University Business School (hereafter called KUBS) is the business school of Korea University in Seoul, South Korea. KUBS was the first university department in Korea not only to open its doors to business studies but also to introduce western-style business studies to Korea. Korea University Station is a subway station on the Seoul Subway Line 6. This station is located in front of the main entrance of Korea University. One of the exits is connected directly to the campus. City of Seoul has a plan to develop campus town in front of main entrance of Korea University. Furthermore, new commercial districts will be constructed between Korea University Station and Anam Station.

Kyung Hee Cyber University (KHCU) (Korean: 경희사이버대학교; Hanja: 慶熙사이버大學校) is a Korean online university. As of 2012, Kyung Hee Cyber University had 11,295 enrolled students. KHCU has 232 faculty members among five schools and 19 departments. KHCU was evaluated as 2007 Best Online University by the Ministry of Education of Korea.
