Chesterfield is a large market town and borough in Derbyshire, England, 24 miles (39 km) north of Derby and 11 miles (18 km) south of Sheffield at the confluence of the rivers Rother and Hipper. With Whittington, Brimington and Staveley it had a population of about 103,801 in 2012, making it Derbyshire's second largest town.

The Battle of Chesterfield was a minor skirmish in the latter stages of 13th century England's Second Barons' War. It was part of the “mopping up” of Baronial opposition that resisted Henry III following the Battle of Evesham. The fighting took place in, and around, Chesterfield, Derbyshire on 15 May 1266.
