At the beginning, the path is very well established from the trailhead to the sign (first 3/4 miles or so), then opens to a gravel riverbed- once a moraine. Evolves into a scramble in this beautiful valley and opens to a section of glacier. Be cautious, as the runoff from above also produces rock falls.
