The Maiden's Tower (Turkish: Kız Kulesi), also known as Leander's Tower (Tower of Leandros) since the medieval Byzantine period, is a tower lying on a small islet located at the southern entrance of the Bosphorus strait 200 m (220 yd) from the coast of Üsküdar in Istanbul, Turkey.

Damalis (Ancient Greek: Δάμαλις) was a coastal town of ancient Bithynia located on the Bosphorus near Chrysopolis. Polybius calls the town Bus or Bous (Βοῦς). According to Greek mythology, Io landed when she crossed the strait. The name Damalis means 'heifer', and Arrian, quoted by Eustathius, has a story about it.

The Rum Mehmed Pasha Mosque (Turkish: Rum Mehmet Paşa Camii) is an old Ottoman mosque located in a large and densely populated district of Üsküdar, in Istanbul, Turkey. It was built for the Grand Vizier Rum Mehmed Pasha, who was of Greek origin. The mosque combines architectural elements of Ottoman and Byzantine styles.

Üsküdar is an underground station and the western terminus of the M5 line of the Istanbul Metro in Üsküdar. It is located beneath Üsküdar Square, near the Bosporus in the Mimar Sinan neighborhood. Connection to trans-Bosporus Marmaray commuter rail service is available from Üsküdar station as well as IETT city buses and municipal ferries from Üsküdar pier.

Salacak is a neighborhood in the Üsküdar municipality of Istanbul, Turkey. It is located on the Asian shore of the Bosporus, to the south of the historic center of Üsküdar.The word salacak means "bench for washing a corpse," but the name is reported to come from sala meaning "village" (language unspecified) with the Turkish suffix -cık, "small."The neighborhood's best-known landmark is the Maiden's Tower (Kız Kulesi), just offshore from Salacak in the Bosporus.
