The Hawthorne Bridge is a truss bridge with a vertical lift that spans the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon, joining Hawthorne Boulevard and Madison Street. It is the oldest vertical-lift bridge in operation in the United States and the oldest highway bridge in Portland. It is also the busiest bicycle and transit bridge in Oregon, with over 8,000 cyclists and 800 TriMet buses (carrying about 17,400 riders) daily.

Hands Across Hawthorne was a rally held at the Hawthorne Bridge in the American West Coast city of Portland, Oregon, on May 29, 2011. The demonstration was in response to an attack, one week earlier, on Brad Forkner and Christopher Rosevear, a gay male couple who had been holding hands while walking across the bridge.

The Madison Street Bridge, or Madison Bridge, refers to two different bridges that spanned the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon, from 1891 to 1900 and from 1900 to 1909. The bridges connected Madison Street, on the river's west bank, and Hawthorne Avenue, on the east bank, on approximately the same alignment as the existing Hawthorne Bridge.

One Main Place is a privately owned commercial office building in Downtown Portland, in the U.S. state of Oregon. Located at the west end of the Hawthorne Bridge, the 20-story skyscraper is 270 feet (82 m) tall. Completed in 1982, it is the fifteenth tallest building in Portland, and the sixteenth largest by square-foot.

Hawthorne Bridge bicycle counter is a real-time visual bicycle counter installed at the Hawthorne Bridge in Portland, Oregon. The counter is the first of its kind in the United States and went live on August 8, 2012. It cost $20,000 and was donated by Cycle Oregon. The city paid $5,000 for its installation.

Wolff & Zwicker Iron Works was an American ironworks and shipbuilding company located in Portland, Oregon from about 1893 until it went into receivership in 1900. Its plant was destroyed by fire on June 22, 1902. It built three of the early torpedo boats, the USS Davis, the USS Fox, and the USS Goldsborough for the United States Navy.

Turtledove Clemens is an American privately owned integrated marketing communications agency based in Portland, Oregon. The company has produced work for Oregon for Kennedy (1960), Oregon State Health Division (1987) and Oil Can Henry's. Founded by Earl Heims in 1942, it is one of the oldest currently operating advertising agencies in Oregon.

The Madison Street bridge disaster occurred on November 1, 1893, in Portland, Oregon, United States, when a westbound streetcar drove off the open draw of the first Madison Street Bridge (since replaced by the Hawthorne Bridge). Seven people died. This remains the worst streetcar accident ever to occur in the city of Portland and also the worst bridge disaster in Portland history.
