Hungerburg

Hungerburgbahn is a hybrid funicular railway in Innsbruck, Austria, connecting the city district of Hungerburg with the city centre. Alpenzoo Innsbruck is a zoo located in the town Insbruck, in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is one of the highest elevation zoos in Europe.

Hungerburg is a district of Innsbruck, Austria. It has a population of 1,005 (as of 2014). It is connected with the city center through a hybrid funicular railway, the Hungerburgbahn, and from Hungerburg the Nordkette Cable Car continues in 2 sections up the mountain, to Seegrube and then to Hafelekar.

The Weiherburgbach originates above the Alpine Zoo of Innsbruck at 720 m above sea level and flows down in a southern direction to the Inn River. It has a length of 1.5 km and lies completely within a developed area.The creek provides the zoo with fresh water, which is collected in a reservoir. The rest of the water flows further to the "Hohen Weg", where the creek joins the Inn.

The Tuffbach, also known locally as the Weissbach, originates in the Lepsius tunnel at the abandoned quarry of Hötting at 720 metres above sea level. It runs in a southerly direction past the Englishman's Tomb to the Hoher Weg where it merges near the old Hungerburg railway bridge with the Inn. The stream lies entirely within the municipal territory of Innsbruck.
