Lake Kastoria

Kastoria (Greek: Καστοριά, Kastoriá [kastoˈrʝa]) is a city in northern Greece in the region of Western Macedonia. It is the capital of Kastoria regional unit. It is situated on a promontory on the western shore of Lake Orestiada, in a valley surrounded by limestone mountains. The town is known for its many Byzantine churches, Byzantine and Ottoman-era domestic architecture, fur clothing industry, and trout.

The Kastoria Costume Museum opened in 1999 and is run by Harmony, a music and literary association. It is housed in the residence of the Emmanouil brothers, a two-storey building of the 18th century on the edge of Kastoria Lake.The purpose of the museum is to introduce the public to the traditional dress of the Kastoria area, and all the costumes on display come from the city and the surrounding countryside.

Celetrum or Keletron (Ancient Greek: Κέλετρον) was a town of Orestis in ancient Macedonia, situated on a peninsula which is surrounded by the waters of a lake, and has only a single entrance over a narrow isthmus which connects it with the continent. Celetrum has been identified with the Celaenidium or Kelainidion (Κελαινίδιον) of Hierocles.

St Athanasius of Mouzaki (Greek: Άγιος Αθανάσιος του Μουζάκη) is a Greek Orthodox church located in Kastoria, Greece. It was built in 1383–84 by the brothers Theodore II and Stoya of the house of Muzaka, a noble Albanian family that controlled the city at the time, and dedicated to St. Athanasius It is considered one of the most important monuments of 14th century Kastoria and is the last church built in Kastoria before its annexation by the Ottoman Empire.

The Byzantine Museum of Kastoria is a museum in Kastoria in Greece, dedicated to religious art from the area's late Byzantine and post-Byzantine periods.

The Monastery of Panagia Mavriotissa (Greek: Παναγία Μαυριώτισσα) is a monastery that is built on the spot where troops of Byzantine military commander George Palaiologos encircled the attacking Normans in 1083. It is believed that the emperor Alexios I Komnenos (r. 1081-1118) built the monastery there to commemorate the event.

The Museum of the Macedonian Struggle in Kastoria, Greece is housed in a traditional old mansion that belonged to the teacher and fighter Anastasios Pehion (1836-1913). It was inaugurated on 23 May 2010, a project of the "Friends of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle” that was founded in 1993 in the Municipality of Kastoria.

Kastoria Monuments Museum is a private museum that displays scale models of the monuments of Kastoria, Greece. It is located on the ground floor of an apartment building on the shore of Kastoria lake. For many years, Nikos Pistikos devoted his free time to making scale models of the monuments of Kastoria out of a variety of materials, having first carried out on-the-spot investigations, taken measurements so that his models would be to scale, and photographed each building so that he could reproduce its distinctive features and details.
