Blacktown City Council is a local government area in Western Sydney, situated on the Cumberland Plain, approximately 35 kilometres (22 mi) west of the Sydney central business district, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1906 as the Blacktown Shire and becoming the Municipality of Blacktown in 1961 before gaining city status in 1979, the City occupies an area of 246.9 square kilometres (95.3 sq mi) and had a population of 336,962 as at the 2016 census, making it the second most populous LGA in Sydney.

Blacktown railway station is located on the Main Western line, serving the Sydney suburb of Blacktown. It is served by Sydney Trains T1 Western Line and T5 Cumberland Line services and NSW TrainLink Intercity Blue Mountains Line and regional Central West XPT services.

Blacktown Girls High School (abbreviated as BGHS) is a government-funded single-sex academically partially selective secondary day school for girls, located in Blacktown, a suburb of western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.Established in 1956 as the co-educational Blacktown High School, the school enrolled approximately 750 students in 2018, from Year 7 to Year 12, of whom three percent identified as Indigenous Australians and 85 percent were from a language background other than English.
