Independence Big Block Run

Independence is a city in and the county seat of Montgomery County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 9,483. It was named in commemoration of the Declaration of Independence.

The Booth Hotel located on W. Main St. in Independence, Kansas was built in 1911. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.It is a 91 by 111 feet (28 m × 34 m) U-shaped hotel built of reinforced concrete and brick, and was designed to be fireproof. It initially had 108 rooms, including 25 with private bathrooms.

Independence Public Library (IPL) is a small public library that has stood in the same location for more than 100 years, in Independence, Kansas. Today the library serves over thirteen thousand local residents and works in partnership with several other Kansas libraries and agencies. Its motto is "creating possibilities, changing lives."

The Booth Theater is a historic movie theater located at 119 W. Myrtle St. in Independence, Kansas. The building was constructed in 1911 and renovated for use as a movie theater in 1926-27. The redesigned theater was the first in Independence to be designed specifically for use as a movie theater. The Boller Brothers, an architectural firm known for their theater designs, designed the theater in a mixture of the Spanish Renaissance and Italian Renaissance Revival styles.

The Union Implement and Hardware Building is a historic building in Independence, Kansas.
