The Royal Mile is In the Old Town and is the historic heart of Edinburgh. The area is culturally and historically important to the city and packed museums, restaurants and shops. The Royal Mile Route starts from Edinburgh Castle and ends at the Queen’s Gallery/Palace of Holyroodhouse which is the Queen’s official residence in Scotland. It is roughly 1 Scots Mile long which is 1.8 km or 1,13 miles. An interesting route that everyone who comes to Edinburgh must do at least once.
