As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 21,936, reflecting an increase of 833 (+3.9%) from the 21,103 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 2,283 (+12.1%) from the 18,820 counted in the 1990 Census.

The Nathaniel Drake House is located in Plainfield, Union County, New Jersey, United States. The house was built in 1746 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 19, 1973. It now operated as the Drake House Museum and is the headquarters of the Historical Society of Plainfield, though the building is owned by the City of Plainfield.
