There are several car parks you can park in to commence this walk, I’ve started at the one furtherest from the entrance .
There is a wide cement path that leads all the way to a fairly steep incline.
Charters Towers Hill is renowned for several things, these being gold, so there’s lots of old mine shafts about, and you will also discover many World War Two air raid shelters scattered around the surrounding hills .
At the top of the hill you will discover a building that has many pictures that explain the history of the hill and of Charters Towers.
You can return the same way as you come up or descend the other side which is steeper, with a cement pathway that leads back down to a dirt track around the bottom of the hill.
A very interesting walking trail that is well maintained.
