Česká Kubice is a village and municipality (obec) in Domažlice District in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic.The municipality covers an area of 45.97 square kilometres (17.75 sq mi), and has a population of 632 (as at 28 August 2006).Česká Kubice lies approximately 10 kilometres (6 mi) south-west of Domažlice, 57 km (35 mi) south-west of Plzeň, and 139 km (86 mi) south-west of Prague.

The Upper Palatine Forest (German: Oberpfälzer Wald German pronunciation or Böhmischer Wald, Czech: Český les, "Bohemian Forest") is a mountain range in Central Europe that is divided between Germany and the Czech Republic. It is part of the larger Bohemian Massif and the German Central Uplands.

At 1,042 m n.m., the Čerchov (German: Schwarzkopf) is the highest mountain in the Upper Palatine Forest (Český les) and the northern summit of the Bohemian Forest. It lies ca. 2 km from the German-Czech border, roughly in the middle of a triangle formed by the villages of Waldmünchen, Furth im Wald and Domažlice.
