Starting in Tarmonbarry, Co. Roscommon (stayed overnight in Keenan’s Hotel - very friendly) and followed the Royal Canal South to Mary Lynch’s for the Saturday night stopover. Lovely scenery all through Longford and Westmeath from the picturesque canal bridges and locks to the varied landscapes en route - big, forests, meadows and rolling hills. Amazing tranquility and very few users on the route. Highly recommended!!
