A little bay window alcove, four orchid plants and one anthurium keeping them company. Not much, as gardens go. But one of them decided to have a blooming new beginning.
A bud had stayed closed since the day I brought the plants home. Every morning I’d check without really expecting anything — and today, without ceremony, it had simply become a flower. Deep magenta, white-piped edges, that small burst of yellow at the centre with a warm fleck of orange, like it had saved the best detail for last. My pretty little Phalaenopsis Younahome Coco, aka Coco.
And Gala has been in bloom since she arrived, keeping quiet company in the background. Two of the four have now bloomed. Two are still deciding, in their own quiet time, same as anything worth waiting for.
Keep appreciating. Keep moving. (And on some days, there’s only just about as much as you can push.)
