Hello everyone! Spring is here and the season of wellness walking approaches! Before we start counting steps, I wanted to reach out to announce another wellness initiative that will support our walking challenges. In an effort to make our walking challenges more accessible to employees, the Wellness team has purchased a number of fitness tracking watches. We’ve heard from many employees who say they don’t normally carry their phone on them for a variety of reasons, and we wanted to provide an option for everyone to have all steps counted throughout the day! The fitness trackers we purchased are compatible with Apple or Android phones, and function with the free version of the Pacer app we use for our walking challenges. Starting today and running through Friday, April 17th, eligible employees will be able to sign up to enter a drawing for one of the fitness trackers. See your site leaders for the sign up sheet! Hello everyone! I’ve posted a challenge in the app to allow the twelve employees who recorded base times back in April to see how much they have improved after a summer of walking/running! Anyone is welcome to record a time, but prizes will only be awarded to those who started the race back in April, based on who has the most improved one mile times! As a reminder, if you walked your mile in April, you need to do the same this month, and if you ran in April, you need to run in October. You can record as many GPS tracked activities as you want before the end of the month, the challenge will only keep your best time. Prizes will be rewarded to most improved walker and runner overall, and most improved walker and runner per location (the same person cannot be counted as the overall winner and site winner). Look forward to seeing how everyone does! -Brian G.

Hello everyone! We are a little over halfway through our final month-long walking challenge of the year, and so far we have 37 employees participating across the organization. Everyone taking part in the challenge is doing great on their steps, and almost all are on track to receive awards in the 5,000 or 10,000 steps per day award tiers! There are still employees who are part of the walking group on Pacer, and are actively recording steps, who have not entered the challenge, so if you’ve participated in the past, I encourage you to double check and make sure you’ve joined the September challenge that is posted here! If your app is already recording steps for the month, it will automatically apply them to the challenge when you join. Remember, while there is an overall steps winner for the month, all participants who average at least 5,000 steps a day will receive a $25 prize, and all participants who average over 10,000 steps a day will receive a $50 prize!
