Luci and I were checking out the Santa Fe River and Columbia spring along the River Rise State Preserve the other day. The trails there are well shaded most of the day, save for a few spots in open meadows, or near high noon. The drought has brought the river down at least a foot or more below its usual height this time of year.

My walking partner and I taking a break after a long mornings walk. Trying to decide if the afternoon will include gardening or cleanup of a fallen tree in the north acres. I\'d like to keep the jasmine vines encircling the lower trunk, but still need to cut much of the body of the tree and decide how much to leave for the jasmine and as habitat for small critters.

My walking partner and I couldn\'t agree on which route to take today, so after we started out my way, I surrendered and let Luci pick which way to walk. After getting scared by some aggressive dogs she decided to go my way.

An old oak tree fell the other day while Luci, my dog, and I were out on an 8K walk. Trimmed the smallest branches yesterday. Today stacking the trimmings and smallest logs. Then it\'s figuring out how much of the trunk to leave for local critter\'s habitat and home for the flowering jasmine covering the 🌈
