THE WATCH BEFORE THE NAME The last light of sunset fades over the Caribbean Sea. Five longships continue sailing along Cuba’s southern coast beneath a sky filled with stars. Tonight, GUDJON — known to our fleet as SIGURD (Sigurðr) — stands watch at the bow of STORMSÁL. With a burning torch in his hand, he scans the dark horizon while our 136 Vikings rest and the fleet sails onward. Behind him, four longships follow steadily through the night. Our newest ship has proven itself on its maiden voyage, but its sail still carries no name. Tomorrow, we will make landfall for its naming ceremony. Until then, Sigurd keeps his watch. STRENGTH LEADS THE WAY. Sleep peacefully, Vikings. Gudjon stands guard tonight. FIVE SHIPS. ONE FLEET. ONE SAGA. ⚔️
