🚶‍♂️ WALKATHON 2.0 – Faculty Participation Description Promoting Wellness, Balance, and Consistency Walkathon 2.0 is a 10-day virtual fitness initiative organized by the Student Youth Council (SYC), aimed at promoting a healthy, active, and balanced lifestyle within the academic community. Along with students, faculty members are also encouraged to participate in this initiative to foster a culture of wellness and lead by example. In today’s academic environment, both students and faculty often engage in prolonged sedentary routines, which can impact physical health and overall well-being. This initiative is designed to integrate simple daily physical activity—such as walking—into regular schedules without disrupting professional responsibilities. 📌 Concept for Faculty Participation Faculty members will participate in the Walkathon through daily step tracking using the Pacer App, similar to students. However, to ensure fairness, practicality, and inclusivity considering busy schedules, a maximum cap of 10,000 steps per day will be considered for evaluation. This means: Even if a participant exceeds 10,000 steps in a day, only 10,000 steps will be counted The focus remains on consistency and regular participation, rather than excessive physical exertion 🎯 Objective Encourage faculty to adopt and promote a healthy lifestyle Set a positive example for students through active participation Promote work-life balance and stress management Build a sense of community engagement beyond academics ⚙️ How It Works Faculty members register and join the Walkathon challenge via the provided link Daily steps are tracked through the Pacer app Participation is completely flexible—walking can be done anytime during the day A leaderboard system tracks performance based on: Daily participation Steps recorded (up to a maximum of 10,000 per day) 📊 Evaluation Criteria Minimum 10,000 steps per day will be counted Consistency across all 10 days will play a key role Regular participation will be valued alongside total step count This structure ensures that the challenge remains achievable and motivating for faculty members with varying schedules. 🌟 Benefits for Faculty Improved physical and mental well-being Reduced stress and increased productivity Opportunity to build a healthy daily routine Positive engagement with students outside the classroom environment Contribution towards a healthier institutional culture 🤝 Role in Student Motivation Faculty participation significantly enhances the impact of the initiative.
